The two dapper figures in this drawing are said to depict the dealer Léonce Rosenberg and Léger himself, although it is difficult to confirm, given the generic treatment of the faces. The rounded forms representing tree foliage (or smoke) behind the men and the puffy shrub (or perhaps the coiffure of a woman walking by) in the foreground interrupt the modular scheme of the scene.
