Necklace
Earl Pardon
1989 · Silver, 14K gold, 22K gold, enamel, mother-of-pearl, ebony, and semi-precious stones · Modern and Contemporary Art

Earl Pardon, who trained as a painter, taught courses in jewelry, enameling, painting, and sculpture throughout his long career at Skidmore College from 1951 to 1988. This mosaic panel necklace, one of his later works, demonstrates his passion for both painting and jewelry. Through an intricate arrangement of richly enameled and embellished hinged panels, he created a highly wearable necklace.
