Herman Rosse

This covered urn forms part of an all-metal dining room Rosse designed as an entry for a competition sponsored by the International Nickel and Copper Company, which underwrote its production. It was displayed at the 1928 inaugural exhibition in New York of the American Designers' Gallery, a short-lived but important association of the best-known designers of the day, of which Rosse was the founding president. The urn is made from Monel metal, a corrosion resistant alloy of nickel and copper.
