Pomone
Atelier d'Art du Bon Marché|Renée Schils
1925 · Rayon and cotton · Modern and Contemporary Art

In 1913 the famous Paris department store Au Printemps founded Primavera, its interior design and decorating department; during the 1920s the city’s other major department stores followed suit, including Bon Marché (Pomone, est. 1922), Galeries Lafayette (La Maîtrise, est. 1922), and Grands Magasins du Louvre (Studium Louvre, est. 1923). Each store sponsored its own pavilion at the 1925 exposition to display the range of its wares. Little is known about Renée Schils, the designer of this textile, who was presumably a contractual worker for Pomone.
