Landscape at Saint-Jeannet, Provence
Félix Vallotton
1922 · Oil on canvas · Modern and Contemporary Art

This landscape depicts the surroundings of the Provençal village of Saint-Jeannet, situated at the bottom of the Alps. The scene is presented from a low vantage point and the vertical structure of wooden poles and barren tree at left all lead the eye upward, towards the mass of trees lining the edge of the mountain, rising above the field.
