This well-painted jar shows the influence of fourteenth-century Chinese porcelain in the structured composition, the rendering of the peony scrolls, and the shape of the lappets on the base. The freedom found in the rendering of the clouds on the lappets and the elegance of the small birds in the panels on the neck, on the other hand, reflect Vietnamese aesthetics.
