東海道五十三次之内 神奈川 宿台之景|View of the Kanagawa station at sunset
Utagawa Hiroshige
ca. 1833–34 · Woodblock print; ink and color on paper · Asian Art

The waters of the bay in Kanagawa, the site of modern Yokohama, came right up to the foundations of the teahouses and inns that lined the highway. Here the houses and trees are arranged to form a large arc. Maids from the inns get hold of travelers, luring them inside.
