The plaquette depicts Christ carrying the Cross. The piece is an electrotype and therefore must date from the mid-nineteenth century or later. The original composition by Hans Andreas Anthoni may have been larger and subsequently cut down to the present circular shape. A silver version of this plaquette is in the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum in Munich. The mark ET (étranger) is a Paris import designation that was in use from 1864 to 1893.
