Bracelet

11th–12th century · Sheet and wire gold · Islamic Art

Precious metal objects from the Islamic world are rare because of the custom of melting them down in order to produce new coinage. Fortunately, small objects, such as this gold-wire bracelet, sometimes survived, probably because they were kept as family heirlooms.
