"Rustam Pained Before Kai Kavus", Folio 146r from the Shahnama (Book of Kings) of Shah Tahmasp — Bashdan Qara|Abu'l Qasim Firdausi

Kai Kavus is sufficiently worried about the new Turanian threat that he sends the knight Giv to summon Rustam and prepare for war. Rustam dismisses the urgency of the request and delays his departure. Finally, when he and Giv appear before Kai Kavus, the shah harangues them both, and Rustam leaves in a fit of pique. Eventually the paladins intervene, and Rustam returns to offer his obeisance to Kai Kavus
