Dish with Peacock Design
Unknown
early 17th century · Stonepaste; polychrome painted under transparent glaze · Islamic Art

This peacock dish has a loose and rather gawky charm. Although a dish like this clearly was not meant for royal use, such designs were the mainstay of the Iznik ceramic industry in the seventeenth century.
