Fragment of a Misfired Miniature Vase
Unknown
11th–12th century · Stonepaste; glazed · Islamic Art

This miniature vase glazed in turquoise has been previously described as a waster. While the tiny bits of fabric attached on the glazed surface suggest a kiln accident, the shape of the vessel is not as compromised as to make it completely unusable. The object would have probably been sold on a second rate market.
