Fragment of a Frieze with Repeating Phrase, "Sovereignty is God's"
Unknown
11th century · Terracotta; carved, painted · Islamic Art

Found at the Tepe Madrasa part of the Nishapur site, this panel was believed by the excavators to have adorned the façade of the area’s large mosque. Compared to a bowl that has the same inscription (38.40.118), the writing on this panel is more angular and less fluid.
