Textile Fragment
Unknown
11th–12th century · Linen, silk; plain weave, brocaded · Islamic Art

This textile fragment of irregular shape consists of a linen foundation decorated with silk. A repeating design of very small red quatrefoil forms in horizontal rows appears against the plain beige background. The effect creates a harmonious pattern that could have been repeated over a large piece of textile.
