Fragment of a Band with Birds, Cross, and Head

This finely worked and richly colored band includes a cross among its varied pattern. While Egyptian textiles with religiously significant motifs are relatively rare, crosses may have been meant to associate the owners with their Christian faith. Large squares rimmed by smaller ones possibly represent jewels surrounded by pearls. Between them are a golden chalice (?), a large green bird, a predominantly red cross with arms of equal length, and a human head.
