Textile Fragment — Unknown

This fragment consists of undyed linen weave with brocade in black silk. The pattern is of zigzag bands that create diamonds around them, into which a diamond-shaped form is inserted. Apart from the thick, distinctive black outlines, black silk is also used to create a dotted ground in the bands and the diamond-shaped form. The regularity of the repeating pattern suggests that the original fabric may have been a larger piece, perhaps a bolt of textile.
