Design for a Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic Chair, for 'There's a Science to Seating' in the Journal 'Modern Plastics'
Robert Gruen
ca. 1948–1960 · graphite, white pencil and white gouache · Drawings and Prints

Design for a plastic chair reinforced with fiberglass. Four different views of the chair are given. The main view shows the chair at an angle. Below it, from left to right a side view, a view from above and a view from the front are represented. The chair is characterized by its molded plastic seating area and its frame structure. The legs are not placed at the four corners of the seat but at the front, back and two sides describing a lozenge shape. In the front and the side view three legs are therefore visible where in general one would only see two.
