Five Standing Muscovites (Aubry de La Mottraye's "Travels throughout Europe, Asia and into Part of Africa...," London, 1724, pl. 313)
William Hogarth|Aubry de La Mottraye
1723–24 · Engraving; first state of two · Drawings and Prints

Possibly by Hogarth, this print illustrates a travel book by the French author Aubry de La Mottraye. This vignette used to adorn a large image containing a map. The so-called Muscovites are actually a Circassian who offers to sell two Circassian maidens to a Persian. The man at right is a Nogharian Tartar.
