An Interior at Hatton, Warwickshire
Dr. Samuel Parr|Granddaughters of Dr. Samuel Parr
1820–30 · Watercolor · Drawings and Prints

This amateur watercolor records an interior in Dr. Samuel Parr's substantial parsonage at Hatton, where he lived for three decades and ran a small private school for boys. Here figures read and chat, and apparently listen to a young women seated at left who plays an unseen instrument, presumably a spinet. Watercolors adorn the walls, and the style of dress and furnishings suggest a date in the 1820s.
