Theatrical costume designs for early 19th-century (?) French lieutenant and a lary. His costume is a full suit of the style of the 'incroyables', consisting of a blue cropped jacket, tight-fitting, white knee breeches, white stockings and black shoes, worn with a white scarf tied around the neck, black hat, cream gloves, and a cane, held on the left hand. Her dress consists of a checked blouse colored with red and green and a light green, full skirt, worn with a green hat with a rich bundle of large, scrolling, white feathers. The couple is depicted strolling outdoors, possibly in a garden and under a tree, with a palace facade in the background.
