Germaine Richier
n.d. · Etching and aquatint · Drawings and Prints

Richier was trained in Montpellier and Paris, and spent the years around World War II in Provence and Switzerland, but it was in postwar Paris that she developed her signature style. Her sculpture and prints remained figurative, though abstracted and haunting in their expressive force. In this dark and textured print, we see some favored motifs from the natural world: spiders, plants, and shells.
