Long before Saint-Aubin designed his famous trade card for Périer, he produced advertisements for other artisans and businesses. In this example, drapery falling from a Rococo structure fills the foreground while various allegorical figures cavort about. Only in the background can we see hints of what is being advertised: on the left, a woman works at a large loom, and on the right, ships cross the sea, suggesting a merchant in the textile industry.
