Anonymous, Italian, Piedmontese, 18th century
ca. 1700–1740 · Red chalk, brush and red wash over red chalk; ruled construction in leadpoint · Drawings and Prints

Design for the decoration scheme of a wall, with a door. The decoration scheme is made up out of architectural elements that could either be executed in high relief or in trompe l'oeil fresco painting. The consoles, volutes and cartouches that make up the scheme are executed in a late Baroque style, suggesting a dating in the first half of the eighteenth century.
