Scientific instruction is the intent of this fan design. A range of leaf types, each carefully identified, are arrayed along the upper and lower borders, with looping vines adorning the ends. The interior space displays blooming flowers, together with variety of floral reproductive mechanisms. A printed and numbered guide, on a second sheet affixed to the back of this one, could have been consulted by the user once the papers were mounted as a fan.
