The geographic span of the sites in which similar examples have been excavated suggest that this sword belongs to a very popular type in Middle Bronze Age Europe. Constructed of two separate cast elements, a blade and a grip that are riveted together, the sword is notable for the pattern of spiral ornament that adorns the grip and the pommel, of which many variants have been recorded.
