A leading men’s hatter from 1908, Dobbs later added women’s furnishings and, in 1917, opened a flagship store at 620 Fifth Avenue. This was moved up the avenue to Fifty-Seventh Street when Rockefeller Center was constructed, closing in 1930 after only two years because of the Depression. This catalogue cover shows well-dressed men wearing fedoras standing next to a woman in a cloche hat. The pleasure boat behind encourages customers to consider buying new outfits as they plan spring get-aways to seaside resorts.
