This head belonged to a mid-level official who was able to commission a respectable artwork for his burial place or as a temple offering. The smooth wig swept behind the ears is typical for the Middle Kingdom, while the elongated eyes and slight smile date the work more specifically to the Thirteenth Dynasty.
