Right Leg Defense (Greave) — Unknown

This right leg guard, along with a left leg guard also in the Metropolitan Museum's collection (acc. no. 1990.229), forms the only known matching pair of mail-and-plate guards of the fifteenth century for the lower legs. Similar floral ornament and Arabic inscriptions also are found on turban helmets.
