Sid Grossman

Sid Grossman is a relatively unheralded New York City photographer of the 1930s-50s. He died at age 42 before he was recognized by more than his immediate peers as one of the most talented picture makers of the turbulent era. Known primarily for his role as a private art teacher (Dan Weiner and Leon Levinstein were among his more well-known photography students), Grossman was an extremely talented picture maker and one of the founders of the progressive and politically liberal New York Photo League (1936).
