Helmet — Unknown

The decoration of split leaves and arabesques is found frequently on Ottoman ceramics and carpets of the mid-sixteenth century. Originally, the bowl had a brim with a sliding nasal, cheekpieces, and a neck guard. Two complete examples––one Mamluk (acc. no. 36.25.126), the other Ottoman (acc. no. 04.3.456a)––are also in the Museum's collection.
