Design for lampshade
Louis C. Tiffany|Tiffany Studios|Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company
1900–10 · Graphite pencil on paper mounted on board · The American Wing

This study for a geometric shade is a remarkably rare example of a sketch for a Tiffany lamp. The fact that only one section of the shade has been sketched and one left blank attests to Tiffany Studios' equal concern for high-quality craftsmanship and efficient operations. This type of sketch would have been used to prepare a full-scale working drawing. Since a more finished drawing would have superseded it, very few sketches like this one have survived.
