One of the great examples of Palladian Revival architecture in 18th century England, Lord Burlington's Chiswick House (built 1723-29) is especially known for its eclectic gardens, whose Arcadian motifs include antique temples, statuary, and obelisks, as well as the sphinx photographed here.
