The Museum owns four drawings related to the monumental mosaic triptych "Te Deum Laudamus" made for the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Los Angeles in 1922. The mosaics are currently installed at the Lake Merritt United Methodist Church in Oakland, California. This drawing represents the left panel of the tryptich in which a procession of singing youths is led by a man who represents the bishops of the church. This drawing is an early version of the design rendered without color and lacking individual tesserae. It successfully conveys the overall composition, figures, and atmospherics of the mosaic. Certain details, however, such as the architectural structures in the background, remain sketchy.
