Tiffany blends Near Eastern and Venetian Renaissance decoration on this ornate mirror frame of dark copper leaf overlaid with bright copper scrollwork and encrusted with multicolored jewels. Despite the intimacy of the drawing, the mirror was conceived on a large scale - over eight feet tall and six feet wide - which suggests that it was part of and ambitious interior scene for Mr. Willis Holder, although it is not known if the design was ever executed. The elaborate use of filigree relates to Tiffany's interior for the H.O. Havemeyers.
