[Nude in Tub] — Franz Roh

Disorienting perspectives and darkroom experimentation followed the physical and emotional devastation of World War I. In this work, by means of reverse printing (which makes the photograph read as a negative) and an overhead viewpoint, Roh transformed the huddled bather into an ambiguous figure—perhaps prisoner, perhaps daredevil, perhaps both.
