[Tree with Yellow Leaves] — Yoho Tsuda

From the mid-1960s until his death, Tsuda trained his camera on the natural world, attempting to anchor the ephemeral in the fixed space of a photograph. Regarded as a symbol of longevity in Japanese culture, the gingko tree is a reminder of the passage of time and the cyclical nature of life. Its fallen yellow leaves flood the serene composition, encircling the tree where they will soon grow anew.
