Glass mosaic fragment
Unknown
late 1st century BCE–early 1st century CE · Glass · Greek and Roman Art

Body fragment. Greyish blue, opaque light turquoise blue, and red. Very shallow curving side. Mosaic pattern formed from sections of a single cane in a turquoise blue ground with a hollow rosette pattern in red with blue dots and a central red rod. Polished exterior; pitting of surface bubbles on exterior; dulling and faint iridescent weathering on interior and edges. The color scheme and the pattern are both unusual.
