Wood roundel with a bust of Dionysos — Unknown

Very few ancient Greek works in wood have survived. This roundel presumably served as a fulcrum (furniture attachment), a type well known in bronze. The youthful, feminized image of Dionysos is typical of Hellenistic representations of the god of wine.
