Although found together in Prusias (Bithynia), the pieces constitute a set of typical Greek drinking vessels of the 4th century B.C. The wine may been contained in the situla, with the ladle used for serving. Strainers filtered the impurities from the wine. The cup was for drinking, and the phiale, with delicate gilt decoration on the exterior, served for pouring the libation.
