Head of Demetrios Poliorketes/Poseidon with trident Mint of Amphipolis Demetrios Poliorketes was among the first of Alexander’s successors to mint coins bearing his own portrait image. The youthful king is represented with bull’s horns, signalling his association with the god Dionysos, and he wears the diadem reserved for Macedonian royalty.
