Padded dancers, usually shown dancing and drinking, were a common theme in Corinthian vase painting. They were apparently ordinary people dressed in a special costume stuffed or padded to accentuate bellies and buttocks. On this vase they surround a wine krater on one side and play leapfrog on the other.
