Seated female figurines were placed at household shrines, dedicated in sanctuaries, or like this example, buried in a tomb.This statuette, along with the situla (26.164.29), flaring bowl (26.199.11a,b), and pyxis (26.199.12a,b), all displayed nearby in this case, were found together in the same tomb. As a group they provide an idea about the types of objects deemed necessary for the afterlife of the deceased.
