Limestone head of a wreathed youth

The wreath of ivy leaves and korymboi (ivy berries) identifies the youth as a follower of Dionysos, if not the wine god himself. The sculptor made masterful use of the soft local limestone to contrast the smooth flesh with the tousled hair and projecting ivy. Traces of paint remain in the hair.
