Side Chair
Unknown
1765–90 · Mahogany, white pine · The American Wing

Lavishly endowed with ornate carving, this chair is bigger and heavier than most Philadelphia Chippendale patterns. It was likely made for John Lambert (1746-1823), acting governor of New Jersey and, later, a United States Senator.
