Obverse, seated woman and attendants Reverse, two women At each handle, Nike Of particular interest in this representation is the pyxis carried by the woman at the far left. Pyxides are small boxes that contained personal items such as toilet articles. Terracotta examples exist in the greatest quantity, but during the late fifth and fourth centuries B.C., they were also made of marble and often included as offerings in graves.
