Exterior, obverse and reverse, Amazonomachy At the handles, sphinxes Named after the scholar J.P. Droop who first described the shape, Droop cups were produced between about 540 and 510 B.C. They are characterized by channeling at the top of the stem and, in particular, by the succession of friezes between the main figured zone and the rays at the base of the bowl.
