Terracotta cinerary urn
Unknown
2nd century BCE · Terracotta · Greek and Roman Art

The frieze depicts a hero fighting with a plow, a subject found quite frequently on Etruscan cinerary urns (see 96.9.219a, b nearby) but whose specific meaning remains uncertain. The inscription reads: ARNTILE . AFUNAS . LAUTNI (Arntile, freedman of the Afuna family).
