Stands of this common type seem to have been used for vegetal or floral offerings. The Metropolitan Museum is fortunate to own a pair of Attic stands (65.11.14, 1980.537), clearly inspired by the Etruscan model but larger in size and elaborately articulated and decorated. They are exhibited in the Greek galleries on the main floor.
