Gold frontlet of thin leaf
Unknown
ca. 1450–1200 BCE · Gold · Greek and Roman Art

Funerary frontlets of gold were placed around the head of the deceased. Hammered gold plates such as this were placed over the mouth of the deceased. Both types are Asiatic in origin, but the stamped designs often reflect Aegean influence.
