Marble plaque with epigram of Sopatros
Unknown
ca. 2nd–3rd century CE · Marble · Greek and Roman Art

The metrical inscription takes the form of an elegaic couplet (an hexameter and a pentameter), each divided into two lines. Such literary pretensions seem to be quite common among the funerary inscriptions of Roman Cyprus.
